In today’s fast-paced world, businesses and organisations are being asked to adapt to disruptions on an annual basis. Disruption much more than digital

Over the last decade or so, companies have been preparing, avoiding and capitalising on disruptions in the markets they engage with. Disruptions are typically characterised as digital in nature, however, generational differences in values and beliefs can have a major effect on a business’ ability to survive.

In response, organisations are working hard to optimise their recruitment strategies that are aimed at young professionals.

According to LinkedIn’s Global Recruiting Trends in 2016 report, 42 per cent of small to medium size business respondents are prioritising the recruitment of highly skilled talent.

To accomplish this, SMBs are utilising non-traditional sources of recruitment. Figures from the report show that 46 per cent of respondents were using social professional networks to attract talented young professionals.

Communicating your brand

When someone says brand, you instantly think of the logos and tunes used to encourage customers to consume a company’s products. Yet, an employer brand is just as important to a business’ success. The survey found that 72 per cent of respondents believed that employer brand impacted recruitment in crucial ways.

Organisations are doing all they can to build their reputation. To accomplish this, businesses will need to speak to the belief systems that characterise millennial workers. According to PricewaterhouseCoopers, some these include:

  • Better work/life balance
  • Quicker career progression
  • Overseas opportunities

One of the most important aspects that millennials look for are professional development programs. These offer young professionals an opportunity to learn the skills needed to successfully work and rise in a commercial world.
